Time to Start Anew
Putting the past in the past and welcoming a breath of fresh air
As many of you have noticed recently, I have been posting a great deal of articles in a very short time frame. If you are a subscriber, they were sent directly to your inbox while others just simply appeared on my substack. I have also made changes to my publication with new Sections and Homepage links.
Over the past two months, I have been feverishly transferring every post from another platform, one at a time. Why not do it in bulk, you ask? I wanted to have the freedom to start anew and make some additions, edits and changes to the posts as I moved them over. Some changes were simple with title changes while others included changes to the url.
I am happy to say that all of my previous content has now been transferred onto Substack. (Yeah!)
So what is next?
Now that I am fully on Substack, I have the freedom to write topics of my choice. They may be additional travel content or they may be something completely different. Either way, it will be my voice and my voice alone.
I no longer will surrender to anyone else’s ideals of what I should write about because I am in a particular niche. Niche, be damned, I will write from the heart and I will enjoy doing it.
Substack allows me to be better person and communicate with anyone who shares my opinions or even contradicts them. It is a community of like-minded people who all have a voice are not not hidden behind walls of others’ ideas of normalcy.
As
states in their article “Do What Makes You Shine”,This sense of newfound community has a healing effect upon everyone involved. It is time for you to open up to being seen fully, to stepping out from the shadows to embody the most authentic version of yourself so that you will emit the energy that is truest to your own nature.
I started writing four years ago under a pseudonym because I was afraid of what others might think.
I now feel safe as a writer and I am ready to pull off the band-aid and write as myself.
My name is Laura, and I am the writer behind Sunhats and Chardonnay.
Writing for Substack is a breath of fresh air.
I look forward to continued growth as writer and I am grateful to this community and everyone who supports it.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I know you understand the time consuming task of transferring. Not that it is done, I look forward to connecting with other writers and readers.
Getting old is no fun but it beats the alternative they say. I want to explore everything that lays ahead as I push past the working world and embrace the next steps.
As the daughter of a teacher, I understand where you are coming from and I look forward to reading more from you.
Hi Laura... so happy to discover you today! I transferred my old blog posts here too... and found a kind and caring community of like-minded dear friends who take care of one another! I look forward to reading more of you! ❤️😊
