This is the first anniversary of my Substack newsletter!
It’s hard to believe its been one year since I started writing on this platform.
I am truly grateful for all my wonderful readers, it means so much to me. I may not have the largest subscriber list, but all 300 of you do make a difference. Knowing that you want to read what I have to say makes all the difference. On other platforms, I can write thousands of words but they fall into the black hole of the internet, only to receive an occasional “like”.
When I started writing online four years ago, I did not know what to expect or how my words would be received. What started out as a simple travel blog has now expanded on Substack to include writing about midlife matters and some random posts that come from the heart. Heck, I am even writing a book! Plus, I have many ideas for future projects including subsequent books and a memoir.
Writing within the Substack ecosystem has opened my mind to many possibilities that I never thought I was capable of achieving.
I could not have done this without the encouragement of the Substack community. I appreciate how other writers, with both large and small followings, interact with my posts and offer support and encouragement.
This community is such a refreshing change from other platforms.
I look forward to continued writing and interacting with all you you!
And if you are curious, my book, a middle grade fantasy novel, is still in edit mode. Once I am finished this round, I should be able to reveal the title and a possible release date.
I am not rushing. This may be the first book of a trilogy so I am taking the time to set up possible scenarios that could lead to additional books.
The good news is that I retire next week (yeah!!) so I will have more time to devote to my writing.
If you have any suggestions on the type of post you prefer to see, please let me know.
Once again, thank you to ALL my subscribers for the support and words of encouragement.
Congratulations!
As a new writer this is so inspirational! Look forward to reading more!
Congratulations! Substack is such a wonderful place to publish, and I completely agree it's a lovely feeling to know things are being enjoyed and not just floating off into a black hole. And that's wonderful you now have more time to write and work on your book ideas. Good luck with everything... 😎
